Howard Naughton is a fiddle player. The instrument first grabbed his attention in 1971. Back then, everyone seemed to call it ‘violin’. Soon he was learning to play the ‘violin’.
Around five years later he found himself in a spot where some older, influential ‘violin’ players were playing ‘fiddle tunes’, and he really liked that.
Over the next four years, despite persecution from certain musical authority figures, Howard played ‘fiddle’ and ‘violin’. Today he plays mostly ‘fiddle’.
He also enjoys raking leaves, twisting wrenches, and bicycling.
